Jaco Van Dormael

Jaco is a dreamer. A bit of a poet, he could have become a photographer or a clown. He decided to take us on a journey through his films and stage productions.

Although he wears corrective glasses, he continues to see the world in his own way, adding a touch of magic and surrealism. Jaco Van Dormael's dreamlike feature films and commercials explore the power of imagination and the forgotten side of childhood.

His first feature, Toto le héros, won the Caméra d'or at the Cannes Film Festival and the César for Best Foreign Film. His other award-winning features include Le Huitième jour, in which Daniel Auteuil and Pascal Duquenne shared the Palme d'or for best actor. Jaco Van Dormael returned to his favorite themes with Mr. Nobody, in which Jared Leto plays a man about to die in a world where immortality has become possible. His latest feature, "Le Tout Nouveau Testament", gives Benoît Poelvoorde the role of a lifetime, that of God.

Jaco has produced ads for a number of brands, including La Française des Jeux, the European Commission, Delvaux, SNCB/NMBS, Scarlet (Proximus).
